Assistant Director of Outreach Services / Teacher of the Deaf

WRSD is seeking an Assistant Director of Outreach Services to assist the Director of Outreach Services in coordinating and implementing comprehensive Outreach programs, Early Intervention programs, and ASL instruction for students who are deaf and hard of hearing in public schools throughout the regions as well as in home based services where indicated. 

Primary Duties

• Provide faculty support and instruction related to teaching deaf and hard of hearing students
• Provide direct instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students in public schools
• Provide consultation services and support to public school personnel 
• Conduct classroom observations and provide supportive feedback to educational teams
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with Special Education Directors, Education Team Leaders, Administrators and personnel from regional schools
• Participate in the development and implementation of student I.E.Ps and 504 plans including three year evaluations
• Plan, provide and oversee the implementation of early intervention services for families

Requirements

• Massachusetts Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf 
• Management and/or supervisory experience 
• Strong communication skills 
• Progress toward Intermediate rating on the SLPI or other comparable sign language proficiency exam to be evaluated every two years from hire
